When I first made contact with Lindsay Vasko, the Percussion Director at Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, TN, I didn't know what to expect. I knew of Dobyns-Bennett from BOA, and a few of our brand ambassadors had met Lindsay in prior camps - but I never could have expected what this weekend brought.

Fast forward to now, Monday afternoon back in my beloved Cincinnati, and I really feel like a part of my heart stayed with my friends in Kingsport. The Dobyns-Bennett band program is relentlessly dedicated, and moved with a fierce efficiency that I have NEVER before seen at the high school level. They knew exactly what to do. Where to go. What to play. And they did it so effortlessly, while also having a great time - that IS what it's all about, right?!

Furthermore, the volunteer effort by the affectionately-named parent volunteers, the "Black Shirts", was nothing short of epic. These parents dedicated their time & energy to making sure the kids succeeded, and that should never go unnoticed or under-appreciated.

So without turning this into a novella, I want to thank the Dobyns-Bennett High School band program, and the City of Kingsport, for showing me what a world-class music program should be. Wherever you previously thought the bar was, DB raised it.

Much love, everyone, and we'll meet again soon <3
