Reflecting on 2020
No doubt, this has been a tough year for our activity. It's been a tough year to be a business that supports our activity. It's been a tough year EVERYWHERE. And I firmly believe it'll only get more difficult before it gets easier. But there are also a lot of good things happening, and I wanted to shine a light on those.
First, we're seeing this amazing new virtual dimension of the marching arts develop; from virtual clinics, to entire shows (here's lookin' at you, Virtual Arts!), our community's mainstays are flipping the script and actively seeking new ways to involve everyone. It's different, sure, but it's still great.
Secondly, and maybe I never noticed it before, but the amount of comradery on social media, namely Instagram, is astounding. I'm seeing people develop, network, teach & learn from each other like never before. What a sight to behold!
And last, but certainly not least, I'm seeing fortitude. Persistence. Desire. I'm seeing people already setting goals and smashing them. I'm seeing people adjust to the new normal, to this amazing new virtual landscape. And I'm seeing smiles, and chops, and positivity everywhere.
Even with all these things going, we have a responsibility to each other. We need to do EVERYTHING we can to keep ourselves and those around us safe, so we can see each other in person again soon. Wash your hands, wear your mask, social distance, you name it. Together, we'll get it done, like we always have.
I love you all, and look forward to an amazing 2021, come what may.
